Now, assuming the Revigator's radium didn't actually enter the water, and simply exposed the water to ionizing radiation...
In the age when water was not properly purifiied, this could have had a radio-sterilization effect, and formerly bacteria laden unhealthy water, could have been made safe by irradiation.
If the radium were to actually dissolve in the water, then it would be dangerous.
(Remember, it takes neutrons (not α, β-, or y) to make something else actually radioactive.)

So this is why I most likely will end up with cancer in some years, or perhaps some kind of brain damage, one thing's for sure - ignorance is bliss...

Yes, but the Radon gas will totally kill you. Like lung cancer and stuff.

i do not understand, when did the scientifics discoverder that a lot of radiation was bad for the body?

@MuseumofQuackery Always welcome. It was too good a video to have a teensy bug like that messing things up!
-
I want more fucking videos like this.

UV would work for the most part as a sterilizer, especially in clear water, except it takes a lot of energy, and anyone who has spent a day at the lake knows how well water reflects UV. Also, encysted bacterias are very UV tolerant.
Strong gamma will completely sterilize water, and even sterilize meat and other products thoroughly, does not require megawatts of energy like UV, and can be set up in permanent shielded "traps" to prevent environmental contact (leaded pipes, for instance).

Would UV work as a water sterilizer?

It is.
Radium cures by KILLING cancer cells.
Google or Wiki Radium Implants.
The Quacks of the early 20th Century tried
to convince people that the Radium was
releasing "Positive Energy" that the body
needed.
One guy used Radium in his vegatable garden and it killed his entire family.
Bob.... Can you fix the typo in your title? I'm sure you meant "Quackery" (like every other use of the word in your articles), NOT "Quackey"!! (Add the " r " !)
DUCKS are Quackey.
Fake medicine is Quackery.
Otherwise, nice video! Entertaining research!
