First off you don't use your name over the radio. In our department we are issued a badge number which we use also as our call number when using the radio so the dispatcher will know which officer is making the call. We also use police 10 codes when needing assistance. I think this dispatcher caught on real quick, at least I hope she did.

give them the id# and they will confirm the id# and name of the employee for you 24/7 again if you are still suspicious you can have a police officer sent out to verify it also if it is during buisness hours 6am-6pm 7 days a week a commanding officer, battalion chief,division chief, the assistant chief or the chief will be more than happy to come out right away and verify it, i myself will always come out to verify it also there is that chance of a delay due to a 911 emergency.

If you suspect anyone identifying their self as a kansas city firefighter may not be, ask for thier id, our personell will all ways no matter what let you hold thier id's they will have gold seal hologram background like a drivers license,if you are suspicious of some one and they say they don't have thier with them or are hesitant to let you see it and hold it call 911 right away, even if you recieve authentic dept you can call the number on the back wich is our dept dispatch center...

they all have federal signal vision l.e.d. ligtbars,as for our unmarked vehicles they are chevy tahoes they will have code 3 led visor lights all red with blue in the center and two white leds between the red and blue,they have lights in the grille , front ,bumper on the running boards, and amber arrowstik in the rear hatch window with 2 red/blue leds on each side or the rear window and have red/blue leds on the rear bumper, right under the rear side windows in medium lettering it will say kcfd

and some more identifying things we have and carry, all of our radios are motorola with the lime green rubber housing and we use boston leather radio straps with shoulder mics last but not least all of our department command vehicles are 2009 or newer ford expeditions,or 2009 or newer chevy tahoes, they are all white and say kcfd in red on the side and on the rear side windows it will give rank ie: battalion chief,ems, division chief, they all will have federal signal vision...

and kcfd on the left front of the shirts, our button down uniform shirts have officals kcfd patches with the city seal on them our badges are silver, they will say kansas city fire,firefighter and have the missouri state seal in the center and have a badge # all of our officer rank staff have gold with silver badges and all gold for chief officers,we all wear name tags on the right of our button downs,we all carry department id's and are more than happy to present them to the public at any time.
