Ride along as we traverse the first 45 minutes of the eastbound trip on the Sunset Limited towards Tucson, San Antonio, and New Orleans.

We'll pass by historic Mission Tower, and some of Union Pacific's yards that hold some interesting rolling stock.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the ride out of the last coach on Amtrak #2.

  • You can see me filming it at Walnut Grove! (21:52) I'm standing at the intersection filming the Sunset go by! Small world! :D

  • @trainguy799 Haha, wow! That's really something! It confused me as to why there were two detectors right next to each other, they sound like they're scanning different things though.

  • Nice one!!

  • @AmtrakCal462 Thanks :)

  • Excellent video and audio ! I love these kind of vids, apart from the journey itself and the railway infrastructure it's great to see what a place looks like if you have little chance of ever seeing it 'first person' ! Thank you for a superb upload.

  • looking forward to more - beyond Pomona...

  • Is along the Alameda Corridor?

  • @Wingnutcaseman the ATSF line that went through Pomona is part of a differernt transit company, i think.

  • Does the Sunset Limited always go over the former SP or do they sometimes use Metrolink's San Bernardino Line between El Monte and Union Station? One Sunset Limited route description mentions running in the I-10 median just east of LA which is the Metrolink line. Obviously not the case in this video.

  • wow, nice long video! kinda gives you an idea of what riding an amtrak is like, all the sites and sounds and things. thanks for the upload!

  • Beautiful video, but really... it's so slow, its UNBEARABLE! hopefully one day we will have high speed rail :/

  • Great video! Thanks for posting!

  • @nicky9499 ope, just odd being from East Coast and used to ride LIRR often.

  • @krnboy1009 Perhaps, but you speak of long distances as though it's a bad thing?
