No no, Alice Waters is a really lovely, kind woman. She comes off as very elitist and snobby, but she truly is a very kind soul. She just loves fine things, savoring the moment...But if she had it her way, I am quite sure that she would make sure everyone has delicious organic food available to them. I believe she is very aware of the fact that most people do not have access to healthy, organic food. She was a major catalyst that brought about organic food to the mainstream.

Ugh. So tired of these organic white people telling everybody what to do.
-
I think she wouldn't mind if people lived in poverty, just as long as they ate organically, which is insidious and kind of hypocritical.

She is so annoying!!!!! I can't even listen to her!!! And its not her soft tone... I love enya but this bitch is so annoying!!!

There you are again.

So much garden variety reactionism... really easy and convenient to do. Are any one of the reactionary perspectives expressed here, constituted by people who have ACTUALLY tried eating more conscientiously first?
Do you understand politics from the soil up?
What about water piped in from other parts of the country? Do you have working knowledge of drought-resistant seeds & growing practices?
Ms Water's inspiration harkens back to everyone's agricultural roots, before commercial food production.

This reeks of 'opposite snobism'

If you have understood what real food is , you will find in many farmers markets the prices are actually lower than your local discount supermarkets. I understand why some people perceive Alice Waters visions of healthy nutrition as "elitist". Many people are not used to healthy choices of food and have been convinced that healthy food is more expensive. Alice is not your enemy. Your TV is!

Alice Waters is the textbook definition of a "Limousine Liberal". She think everyone can afford expensive food like she can, has plenty of free time to cook slowly like she can, and can grow food year-round like she can.
Irony is that her precious little garden would be a dried-up desert had it not been for all that water that is piped in from Colorado. That's not exactly "buying local" now, is it?
I prefer to eat fresh too, but Alice thinks everyone is as lucky & as rich as she is.
Right on!!!
