As telecast back on Sunday 12 August 1984, please join the highly respected Hugh Cornish for a trip down memory lane as Channel 9 Brisbane celebrates its 25th birthday!
Sunday 16 August 2009 marked 50 years for Nine in Queensland with QTQ having just aired a special one hour presentation on the Saturday eve, which included interviews with Hugh, Jackie MacDonald and the late great Paul Sharratt.

  • Hugh Cornish a pioneer of Queensland and Australian Television. I played lowrey Organ on Hugh's Gold Coast Tonight OB circa 1961 at Southport....and we met up on several occasions. Hugh went on to become GM of Queensland Television. I also knew QTQ's Hammond Organist Wilbur Kentwell, Worked with Max Blake the presenter/vocalist on QTQ...we even watched the station's first test patterns and programmes. fond memories of Hugh and QTQ...with many thanks to Pugsley2005....Stephen F Bandung Indonesia

  • My pleasure Stephen.....

  • Mmmmm, Hugh Cornish there, it was wrong of him to comment this year about the three journalists sacked - he is not working there, is not there in the moment. Discretion is the better part of valour and he should've remained silent.

  • What's the name of the music...It sounds like a version of I'm a Man by Spencer Davis Group....any ideas..?

  • Don't forget to tune into "50 Years of Nine For News" (probably the first of a few 50th specials from QTQ this year) on the 21st of March.

QTQ-9, always the stronghold for their birthday, just like 1984. I just hope they bring Hugh in for the "spectacular" that will happen on August 16.
