I recently bought an 83 C70 on craigslist and someone had cut the spark plug boot off of the wire on mine too! I guess someone wanted their lawnmower to work more than their motorcycle. I have no experience with motorcycles, and so far restoring mine has been no problem at all. 629 miles original miles on the engine, basically an oil change and a new plug wire and it was running. Once I got it running, I started taking it apart and figured everything out that way. Pretty simple bikes.

@ils360 I've put a 110cc engine in this, do I have to go completely custom with the exhaust and rear brake peddle or is there an easier way?
Also where can I get the small parts that dratv does not sell and the sellers on ebay want $80 bucks just for shipping?

Give us an update of how far along you are so we can all advise you from that point on. I would replace any fuel lines, vacuum hoses, and just for a precaution replace the wiring harness. Try to find a schematics on fuel and electrical systems so you can see what the missing parts of the chain is. Rebuild the carb, adjust the valves, replace all fluids too. Yahoo groups may have a service manual on it as well.

@MrWirelesscaller Actually the bike should be done soon. I've been working hard on it recently and I'll make a vid once it gets almost there. All of the wiring was actually good. Most of the bike for that matter was in good shape. It has been a very enjoyable build.

hey man not to diss you or piss you off but why buy a bike that needs restoration if you do not have much knowledge in these little engines ? im just saying its going to cost you alot of money and alot of advils (headaches). its cool thats your trying to learn but im sure its best to get it restored professionally so you dont spend money on parts, try to put them on and by accident mess them.

@GGBULLETz Actually I have lots of experience in working on other kinds of engines. Mostly I work on Mazda rotary engines so a little thing like this wont be too much headache.
I am the type that opens the hood more than the drivers door. I like to do everything myself, there's no way in hell I'd let someone else restore this for me. It's gonna be a very fun project.
