  • what a sound!! your martin is very articulate, bright &lots of overtones, and sustain..Is that a new string sir? and what brand?

  • elixir nano web lights

  • Just a random question, do you find that these Mahogany topped martins sound best with lower tuning? My 34 017 was in need of a neck reset so I kept it in open D or open C for slide, and I kindof get the feeling that these guitars excel in the lowered tunings. Just wondering if that is what you prefer as well.

Should be getting my 017 back from the shop so I'll be posting a vid soon. Thanks.

  • Both 17s sound good in standard tuning but I like drone effect of dropped D and DADGAD on the 00-17 best.

  • I have a 1944 00-17, it has an ebony truss rod, and it's the lightest guitar I've ever felt. Does yours have a metal truss rod? I was told the reason for ebony is because of the wartime metal shortage.

  • I also have a 1944 0-17, I had the neck reset on it recently and my luthier told me it had an ebony truss rod. I don't know if this 1940 00-17 has metal or ebony - I will have to check sometime using a large magnet. In the 20s Martin used ebony but during the 30's they switched to metal rod. Then in the war years they were forced to go back to ebony rod due to steel shortages.

  • @gap378

Awesome guitar & well played! Could you please post or send tabs or chords for this song? THX!

  • omg dallas greens guitar...well minus the year but lol jealous

  • thanks for getting the sound and video more in sync. i will try to play it on my 00-17. mine is beat to shit, patched body, needs fret work,..... still sounds rich and fine . nice guitar.

  • nice sound. I bought d'addario 0.13-0.56/ it sounds nice in dropped C or 1 tune down. today I decide try double dropped C. it was interesting, sounded nice.

Your playing style is almost exactly mine. I only play hardly and more feelings there.

  • Hey:

    Great song, really like it.

Surely would like to view tabs on this song. Have figured out some but difficult to completely get it. Somewhat new to DDD tuning.

    Anymore like this one?
