Marcel Dupré (1886-1971) was organist of the Cavaillé-Coll organ at St-Sulpice (Paris, France) from 1934 to 1971. Here, we hear him play Bach's Fugue in G minor BWV 542 at his organ, in 1934.

  • Ohhhh...He was also a young man¡

  • This picture was taken at Notre-Dame, probably during the years he deputized for Vierne between 1916 and 1920, i.e. when he was between 30 and 34 years old.

  • Awesome! One of the *very* few pre-WWII Dupré recordings at St-Sulpice.

  • This is an EPIC document! Thank you so much for uploading!

  • I like his phrasing of the fugue subject! This is very musical playing...and who cares how historically authentic it may or may not be!

I can see why Dupre took the organ world by storm when he burst onto the scene.

Thanks SO much for posting this priceless performance!

  • Dupré, the greatest Organist of XX century...

  • Very interesting for a recording this old. It really shows the fire Dupre could bring to the Organ, especially this G minor Fugue.

  • I didn't know that Dupre could play Bach with authentic figurations!

  • Sounds fantastic! Thank you for posting!
