Proud member of GSPHE (Georgia Students for Public Higher Education) and one of many students escorted from the GA State Senate by Capitol Police, Pholksinger Josh sings the story of our movement.
See www.georgiastudents.org and http://georgiastudents.wordpress.com/ for more on that.
Lyrics:
We rode with the morning sun to Atlanta, yes we did
With our state's HOPE and her Dreamers on our minds
That town sure as hell didn't know what was a-coming
To be honest my dear friends, neither did I
We started with the old board of regents, yes we did.
We told them that they all was out of line.
We demanded they lift the research university ban
And come out against HB 59!!
'CAUSE WE DON'T WANT NO HB 59
And then I said right in the face of Michael Adams,
Will you stand up for poor and working families?
Will you stand up for undocumented students?
He said no 'cause of politics
Tried to fool us with his politricks
HARP
Then we marched to Georgia's capitol building
We joined our fellow students, we shared our voice.
We asked our state senators to hear us
And to think of us as they made their choice
And then we barged into the senate
Told them saving hope was our demand
Then the Capitol Po-lice done come down on us
Our brother, knocked down, cuffs upon his hands,
Tuesday night saw our brother in the Fulton County Jail
And our states working youth left out to dry
So I ask all hands to join with Georgia's students
As we stand up resist fight and organize
AS WE STAND UP RESIST FIGHT AND ORGANIZE!
Spread the word! We the students have to fight for our education. Because if we don't, no one else will!
