@PatrickDSimpson Well after i helped my dad get rid of his windows 2000 computer on the day i asked you about the hard drive, i drilled a hole in the hard drive and smashed it up a bit cause he was about to just throw it away but he doesnt know a lot about computers and i threw some parts like the screws and metal plate. so now he finally got internet with a new computer:D

what do you do with your old hard drive that you took out?

@Aviation2016 I just kept it. I didn't look into ways of recycling a hard drive. You should note (and verify online) that for a drive to be sufficiently wiped so that no data can be restored from it, it needs to be wiped seven times. So keep that in mind if you do plan on getting ride of the hard drive somehow.

@scrapman41042 No, but at least they take them for free. Some places make you pay to recycle electronics.
