Like so much with the Middletown school board, the candidate forum held Tuesday night by the Middletown Teachers Association came with added controversy. On Monday, school board President Nicholas Mauro ruled that district personnel could not videotape the forum for broadcast on Channel 20. Mauro said that because the MTA endorses candidates, it would be a conflict for the district to air it, and administrators didn't seek board approval to tape either the MTA forum or the Middletown NAACP forum last week. The MTA brought its own video person to its forum at Monhagen Middle School. The candidates — Lisa Prince, Rosemary Capozella, Randy Keys, and the slate of three, incumbents Rose Tobiassen and Will Geiger and former board member Ed Estrada — talked about the need to continue the district's recent achievements: academic improvements, building renovations, the new elementary school. They talked about Middie Pride, focusing on the kids and education and fiscal responsibility. Moderator Sheila Esposito, the MTA president, asked the hot question of the night: Give three adjectives to describe the current board leadership. In months of strife, Tobiassen and Geiger have been at loggerheads with Mauro and Vice President Lynne Perkins.
The middletown school board is a joke from top to bottom.Mr Geiger is a rubber stamp for the superintendent it is painfull to watch him kiss his ass,Estrada is a lyer and total bullshitter he trys to be slick and act like he is above alot of the nonsence that goes on at meetings but he is apart of the all the B.S. that goes on dont trust him.Roy Paul is young and immature but very intellegent he needs to grow up,Dr Mauro is also intellegent but is just a lunetic.
