Thank you for this video! A concern I've always had about this field is client wishy-washiness. Have you had many situations where clients receive your work and then respond with something like, "Now that I see it all laid out, this isn't quite what I'm looking for... I don't know exactly what I want, but something different from this..." How do you handle situations like that?

@VocalVerve If you're talking about writing 'on spec' then I don't do that. Once I'm writing for someone this means that they've already paid at least 50% down, so I can't see how I can have that unfortunate situation. Yet when you are first starting out some businesses would try those tricks on you that they know they cannot try on a more experienced copywriter.

Great video! I've decided to be come a copywriter. I would like to work from home also. I'm finishing my degree in English. I'm an African American woman, and I love to write. I've been writing spec ads just to get a feel for it. I don't have a huge desire to work for a company. Are spec ads a good way to practice?

Better to write real ads and test them using Pay-Per-Click advertising like Google Adwords.

You don't have to write ads that you won't use and you can test these ads cheaply to find out what works.

You may also specialize in graphic design for direct marketers. Not many graphic designers understand the special needs of copywriters.
