David Elliott Lewis of SOLVE (www.mha-sf.org) shares his story. SOLVE stands for Sharing our Lives: Voices and Experiences. SOLVE is a stigma elimination program that uses peer educators to reduce social barriers that prevent mental health treatment by sharing personal experiences with mental illness. The Surgeon General estimates that one in four people are affected by mental illness, and peer education and support effectively corrects misinformation.
