Noo. viper's remark was made from a popcul perspective. The literature could've been (has been, and still often is) Schoenberg.
Coming largely from a popcul background, I had similar mis-conceptions/mis-programmings, and was righted about things when I studied music.

@aculturemind Without judging both sides, Gondwana came out in 1980, so I think his argument was valid from his point of view...
