Part 2 of Eric Whitacre's masterpiece "When David Heard" performed by the epic British vocal enseble "Polyphony".

It brings tears to my eyes and I imagine everyone else who has ever lost someone close to them.

I have no rights what so ever of this recording. It is purely brought to you because it is performed so beautifully by this choir.

  • One of the most spectacular pieces I've ever had the privilege to sing. Emotionally exhausting, and worth every moment--it's hard to avoid the desire to collapse in a weeping heap on the floor. If you ever have the chance to perform it--don't let it pass you by...

  • Polyphony has the best and most pronounced "soprano clash" (1:21-1:23) of any performance of this piece I have ever heard. I wish every choir would follow their lead! It's written for a reason, and it sounds fantastic when executed well.

  • This is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard.

  • @theultimateultimatum yes it is

  • Soprano at 1:41 :)

  • The first soprano had one terribly loud, sharp note.

I used to prefer the BYU version but I'm coming to like this version.

My preferred version is still in limbo.

  • It is just so emotionally engaging. Whitacre is the definition of great composition.

  • is this a capella?

  • I can not imagine trying to sing this from beginning to end without falling apart, its just to powerful. This is the first and only piece, I might actually pass on performing. I could do it technically, both bass and baritone, I just could'nt bring myself to do it. I would never make it past 4:40 without crashing. Thanks for uploading it, i needed a good cry. Alongside the statue of David ... the definition of a masterpiece
