Deutsche Bank in South America

In the last decades of the 19th century, hardly any other region of the world was considered to have better prospects for economic development than South America. To represent its interests in the region, Deutsche Bank founded Banco Alemán Transatlántico as a subsidiary in 1886 and built up a branch network all over Latin America prior to World War I.
