New Orleans District Attorney Jim Garrison 1967

New Orleans D.A. Jim Garrison began an investigation into the assassination of President Kennedy in the fall of 1966, after receiving several tips from Jack Martin that a man named David Ferrie may have been involved in the assassination. The end result of Garrison's investigation was the arrest and trial of New Orleans businessman Clay Shaw. Garrison's key witness against Clay Shaw was Perry Russo, a twenty-five year old insurance salesman from Baton Rouge, Louisiana. During the trial, Russo testified that he had attended an "assassination party" at David Ferrie's apartment, where Shaw, Ferrie, and Lee Harvey Oswald had discussed killing President Kennedy.

Russos version of events has been questioned by some historians and researchers, such as Patricia Lambert, once it became known that part of his testimony was induced by hypnotism, and by the drug Sodium Pentothal (sometimes called "truth serum"). Indeed, the early version of Russo's testimony, as told in the DA memo, before he was subjected to Sodium Pentothal and hypnosis, fails to mention an "assassination party" and says that Russo met Clay Shaw on two occasions, neither of which occurred at the "party." However in Jim Garrison's book On the Trail of the Assassins, he says Russo had already told of the party at David Ferrie's before any "truth serum" was admitted. The jury didn't see enough evidence to convict Shaw. A verdict of not guilty was given.

I too have great respect for Garrison; I have read his book and believe his version of the assassination is much more credible & thorough than the bogus lies & cover-up of the Warren Report. Again, why did the powers-that-be work SO HARD to destroy him & his investigation...?

garrison shook up the good ole boys who thought the coast was clear. vietnam was the focus andthe country was divided. the hit on jfk was done by a cia -mafia group with connections to lbj and his backers. it wasnever officially sponsored by the cia or any govt. agency or military intell. these kind of ops are off the books- cia director mccone was kept out of the loop. take a look at the underworld in texas and lousiana and the political climate around cuba and civil rights.

@starmanskye Clay Shaw was never outed as Clay Bertrand! That is a fabrication and a flagrant lie. Since Shaw engaged in international business he traveled to Europe on occasion. Upon his return he would be interviewed by the CIA to get his opinion and impressions about the political climate in Europe. He was never an "agent" of the CIA.

The historical record shows Garrison was unscrupulous, heavy-handed and used illegal methods to build a case against Shaw. He had no case. It was all for show.

Clay Shaw was outed years later as Clay Bertrand, a CIA asset by a high-intel official, documents & other witnesses. 2 Governors refused extradition of suporting witnesses. The organized, methodical, coordinated attack on a principled District Attorney by gov officials & agencies is just ONE of a long, long list of damning evidence that there was a systematic program of cover-up to obscure systemic government abuses including covert ties to the murder of JFK.

It is unfortunate that people come on here and post nasty comments about Jim G. These posters roam the JFK boards and discredit everything. It is clear they either hate JFK or are paid to disrupt the blogs. While it took much work to finally prove that Oswald was innocent, other frauds and scams today can be exposed with far greater ease. 9/11 or the holocaust for example.

I refer to the holocaust as a scam since not one body of a gassed person was ever found in Poland or Germany. Not one .

@BlancGivre - You make some very good points but I submit the clock be backed up to 1914. President Wilson opposed the entry of the US into WW1. Zionists had him blackmailed via a mistress and he did what they told him. CIA and Int Banking go hand in hand.
