  • Please could you tell us who the composer of the arrangement is?

  • Chanticleer arranges its own stuff usually, but Franz Biebl did this version of the song...

  • @DrunkCanadian3

right and I think the really title is "Angelus Domini". It's for 6 voices - Chorus and three solists. in Tenor 1+2 and Bass 1

  • @finchen1967 I have the sheet music, the version I have is titled "Ave Maria- By Franz Biebel- as made popular by Chanticleer" weird eh?

  • @finchen1967 The song is actually entitled "Ave Maria"

  • The language is Latin. The Hymn is actually the "Angelus". When Catholics were Catholic, the prayer was said at 6am, noon and again at 6pm. The English translation is "The angel of the Lord declared unto Mary and she conceived of the Holy Ghost" followed by the Hail Mary prayer -then "Behold the handmaid of the Lord, be it done to me according to Thy word" -Hail Mary -and thirdly "And the word was made flesh and dwelt amongst us" followed by a third Hail Mary.Harvard Glee Club also sings this.

  • what language is this in?

  • @finchen1967 The music is titled Ave Maria, it's a 7 voice song. Tenor II, Tenor I, and Bass trio plus Tenor I, II, Baritone, and Bass voice parts as the chorus. Very beautiful song.

  • @finchen1967

The name of the song is "Ave Maria" by the German composer Franz Biebl (1906-2001).

  • @DrunkCanadian3 Ave Maria is Angelus Domini.

  • @finchen1967 its for 7 voices. 4 part choir and 3 part call back. thats what my score says.

  • @Eito87 Thank you for that information. I didn't want to buy $90 of music only to find I bought the wrong one(s).
