@NickNewkum interesting. when you say they're individuals that come together, do you mean they're all born seperately then find each other after they're born and join together?
This is actually not a single creature, but a colony of Polyps. These individuals come together and differentiate to perform different colonial functions. For example, some capture food, while others may defend or be used in reproduction. Their is a bit of controversy to weather the sail is a modified Polyp, or a Medusa. Pretty weird, huh?
@ People calling this a creature. It is actually a colony of creatures called polyps. They are differentiated into different parts of the Man of War to perform different colonial functions. For example, some catch food, and some are for reproduction. Pretty weird, huh?
i have been stung by one of these and lets just say it would hurt less if someone jumped on your foot and the mark they leave stay for about a week not a pleasent experience but i do like their blue it wonderful
Blue Bottle stings are rarely fatal to humans, although they can be. Like some jellyfish stings, they can be excruciatingly painful. The venom/pain can interfere with respiratory and/or cardiac functions.
life is amazing
