If the people complaining about her perceived lack of emotion it's because many in the U.S.have issues with real deep emotion and only can see/accept emotion rendered in gross materialistic facial expressions and physical body movements. There's deep spiritual emotion in her music-making.

I understand what you're saying. Some Americans can be misunderstanding and ignorant at times. I know this because I'm an American myself. I think her music shows a lot about her personality! And she has an intimate relationship with her violin.

Listening to her interviews, she is incredibly well spoken, thoughtful on many subjects, and very confident in her abilities, yet humble at the same time. She has been performing her whole life and continues to keep up a tireless schedule. I am very impressed with her. If my daughter grew up to be so wonderful, I couldn't get any prouder. This is a lovely rendition, such wonderful tone and clarity...but I must admit that I still prefer Julia Fischer's version. I like the wildness of it. But that is a very personal matter, and Hilary's technique was better than Julia's.
