I cannot begin to tell all the memories this old song brings to me. My mother and my aunt both could sing it, as well as my uncle!! They were ALL fans of Hank Williams. There will NEVER be another Hank Williams!!

some one asked me about Mansion On The Hill. just discovered a story about it. in 1946 Hank signed has first recording contract and several were accepted by Acuff-Rose. the story goes that the first time Hank met Fred Rose he didn't believe in Hanks writing ability so he gave him a hypothetical story about a haughty girl in a fine mansion who r rejected the love of her poor suitor who only lived in a cabin, Hank came back with that song. hope it helps

-9 =minus 9 years, but I should've said born in 1962. Love the boxed set of the Mother's Best radio shows with Hank made in 1951. Love to hear Hank sing, laugh and tell stories. ;-) I feel I get to know him better after listening to these shows. Highly recommended!!!!
