Hemispheres is my favourite Rush album, maybe because it's what got me into Rush when it was released way back in, 1978 I think. I remember laying on a friend's floor in the dark just listening to it and thinking how incredible it sounded. Circumstances isn't as easy to play as some people might have you believe, full of subtle changes and chord shapes. A boy alone, so far from home... these walls that still surround me, still contain the same old me...

  • Great work on this snowdog - note for note. You rock!

When you come out of the chorused interlude C-D-E sequence what's the power chord before the B? It looks like first position A but when I play that it doesn't sound quite right? Help please!

Thanks again for a great post.

  • @skywritertimeless I think I play an Asus2 there sky....and arp the open B and then the C# at the end before the B... haven't played this in quite some time.. hope it helps :)

  • Dude....great stuff. Amazing, actually.

  • Snowdog, you never fail to amaze me!

  • I think I just busted a nut. Wait...no, false alarm.But very nice interpretation.

  • It was great when they brought Circumstances back live on the Snakes & Arrows tour. Great job, side two of Hemispheres is possibly their best "side two" alblum.

  • Fantastic !!

  • @brandon9966 ... it's a power chord Cmaj but also played with B and top E open on the last strike

  • @brandon9966 .... yes..the part I described starts at 22 seconds... the muting is important and quite difficult at the start, but if you persevere, it will come and be like second nature.

  • @brandon9966 ....... thats a 3 chord sequence:

normal standard D followed by a chord where you have to mute three of the strings... the fingering is:

    bottom E: mute with thumb

A string: play note C# with third finger

D string: mute with third finger

G string: play note A with first finger

B string: mute with first finger

    top E: play open

then play the standard D chord again..... hope that's the part you meant

  • Awesome my friend. Thanks for the demo. I was having trouble picking out the run right before the chorus... now i got it...

this will be excellent to surprise friends around the campfire.

  • I love you man!
