My family sings a song like this to their babies, too.
But it's just
"Bayou my baby" over and again in a lilting melody

Oh wow... My mom has always related a memory to me that her first memory (back in the early '40s) was of her mom rocking her to sleep and singing a song called "Bayou My Baby". And here it is...it's THIS song. It never occured to me to search for it on youtube until tonight. Thanks for putting it on here. :)

The song is by Smokey Grene but it comes from a La. romance song of long ago. I will ask my PAPA just where it comes from.
