@TheBeatlesCom while I agree with you on technique, Slash isn't anywhere near the level of guys that you mentioned. It's not fair to call slash overrated, mainly because his style is very raw and even he knows guys can destroy him. But people like his choice in notes, which is what makes him great. I had a similar discussion with a friend who said Kirk Hammett was better than Buckethead as far as guitar goes.

I am in Berklee school of music in boston studying jazz guitar, and majoring in filmscoring and Taking advanced theory classes and I can break it down to you and prove to you slash is no where, .. no can't even .. even compare to richie Kotzen, in fame? Obviously Slash wins, In skill and technique? Yes I am very sorry slash is overrated very highly. Try some joe pass, Django, Steve vai, perhaps some Eric johnson if you want some great player.

Call me crazy for saying this, but as great as a guitarist Richie Kotzen is, i think he is a greater songwriter and singer, i own four of his albums, their is not one tune on those albums that i skip.

@joediver1119 lol i love kotzen very much, but i'm a guitarist too, slash had plenty of experience than Kotzen, not only experience but also feel the guitar is not as deep as Kotzen, Kotzen still can not approach the slash in it, Kotzen just playing fast, just it

@kokobirra -RIchie Kotzen is better than Slash? That, my friend, is one of the biggest understatements I've ever heard. I love Slash and he's a rock legend but he isnt anywhere close to as good Kotzen. Probably one on the 10 best in the world.
