Here's some video of my bipolar Tesla coil in operation, showing the separate components used: 6 Leyden jars (total 2.99 nF), spark gap with magnetic quenching, 7.5 kV neon sign transformer, all joined with 20 kV high voltage wire salvaged from microwave ovens. For details of how the Leyden jars were made, see http://www.instructables.com/id/Soda_Can_Leyden_Jar/

  • nice, my tc is vertical but also uses leyden jars. Is your secondary made of one winding horiziontally over its entire length? Or are there two windings, their separation hidden under the form for the primary in the middle?

  • It's a single winding of 24 gauge magnet wire, unbroken from end to end.

  • neon transformer?

about 9000 volts at .5 amps?

  • 7,500 volts at 30 milliamps
