My uncle fought in WW2 and Korea. He survived both with some injuries. When he came back home he was never the same. He died of emphysema and cirrhosis of the liver. At his burial, there was a bugler who played taps, then played Ave Maria, my uncle's favorite song. This man, a longtime friend of my uncle Bill was a master with the bugle. There wasn't a dry eye among the 400 or so people who came from all over to pay their respects. A real tear jerk-er.

Nice story and classic voice. I don't always agree on everything the Duke said but dammit you can't help but listen. And the best western was Rio Lobo....I mean Red River...I mean El Dorado...dammit. I'll have to think about it.

Whoa....here we go. Someone does'nt agree with you so you call them a libral commie. I love John Wayne but remember he was a little more moderate as he got older. He spoke out against Vietnam and believed manifest destiny was wrong. Great talent. My favorite actor btw but there are others.

John Wayne may have been a womanizer.. But he was a great man and fantastic actor. He was the countries biggest patriot. I will NOT ever forget him.

MY dad was in the US navy in WW2 and a fiance died during winter training back in the 80s. I lost my last boyfriend who was a vietam vet. Most men in my life have been vets or were in at the time I knew them.
