Optimal Sound when viewed in High Quality ( &fmt=18 )...
Perhaps this is THE RECORDING for Beethoven's 9th Symphony. Christoph Von Dohnanyi conducts the Cleveland Orchestra and Chorus in this October of 1985 performance. The Cleveland Orchestra, under Dohnanyi's Baton, had the superior Orchestra "Sound", with a String Section that was tighter than you-know-what! How Dohnanyi got a Whole String Section to sound "as one"... it just blows my mind! Their precision and accuracy is flawless, and the WoodWinds sound "heavenly"! They truly are Beethoven Masters!
Thank you for listening!

  • Yes this is an amazing performance as I was a chorus memeber for this performance. It was so wonderful to be in Cleveland Severance Hall for this as well! The performance was like a big party!

  • I bet you were singing as strong as you could, yet you were not able to hear yourself!

  • the chorus was excellent in this performance!

  • amen

  • Carol Vaness rocks in this recording. She's the best Beethoven's 9th soprano soloists.

  • You are so right!

  • I am going to see Christoph von Dohnány conduct the Cleveland Orchestra in this piece in two weeks. He is coming as guest conductor. I am so excited !! I am listening here to "practice" for the concert. Thanks for posting this.

  • dat fugue

  • @zboyyu I could not agree more with you, my friend.

  • I am an Information Technology Major, but my dream is to be a director of a symphony. I listen to all types of music including death metal, but when it comes to classical, nothing comes before it. The technical skills and talent required is astronomical. I will never be able to afford to go to one of these performances, but if I had the chance, I would love to, just for once, see the Cleveland Orchestra playing Beethoven over seeing Iron Maiden.

  • wonderful symphony performed by the best Orchestra in the world.

  • Oh, God. This symphony NEVER fails to bring tears to my eyes...

  • wheres the end???

  • @zboyyu no doubts my friends

  • "Oh bliss! Bliss and heaven! Oh, it was gorgeousness and gorgeousity made flesh. It was like a bird of rarest-spun heaven metal or like silvery wine flowing in a spaceship, gravity all nonsense now. As I slooshied, I knew such lovely pictures!"

    A Clockwork Orange

  • @danthedeadhead88 for every douche that bashes modern music there's an even douchier douche to give them a f*cking lecture about it
