Flaring brake lines...very simple. You need to make a double flare as shown. At 6:45 You may also clamp the flaring tool into a vise to hold it steady.

  • @skimywhistler25 It must depend on the tool, cause on mine the line slips out if I just tighten by hand. Thanks!

  • @MudRFunR Nor do my instructions, I was having some problems and I found out from somewhere and have not had any problems since, with pushing the line in. I don,t use pliers to tighten the wing nuts, don,t need to. This can be frustrating, so if we can save some people the trouble, then why not.

  • @MoreThanAnOx Sounds like your old line is in bad shape and should be replaced anyways. Your plan sounds good to me, if I could get the job done with sections of 6 ft and couplers I would do the same. I just hear of guys using pliers to tighten the wing nuts and I never need to. Flaring can take some practise, it,s just the way it is. But it,s good to have that skill in your back pocket, good luck.

  • @skimywhistler25 Yeah, figured that out. It does work a lot better. Now I'm dealing with splicing into old line that wants to split. Also the tip of the line doesn't want to smash down straight. But think I've got with a better plan. I can buy flared lines with 10mm fittings in pieces up to 6'. I'll buy enough lines for the whole job, use adapters at the two 12mm holes in the ABS unit, and use couplers and multiple lines where 6' isn't long enough. I am DONE with this flaring mess...hopefully.

  • @skimywhistler25 Even my instructions never mentioned that but it does make sense. Thank you so much for the info! (and yes, I do mention deburring in this video)

  • Always tighten the wingnut closest to the line in the tool 1st. When you have the line snug, loosen the oppistte wing nut and retighten the wingnut closest to the line in the tool a second time, now tighten the oppistte wing nut, ( from the line In the tool). This is important and 1 of the few things that you really need to be aware of doing this. So get it right, don,t be a tool, make the tool work for you! Also be sure to de burr the line.

  • @MoreThanAnOx Sounds like your tool is pooched.

  • @MudRFunR I'm using a box end wrench to tighten the wingnuts, I'm using a new tool, and I'm having trouble with the new lines and the lines on the car that I'm spicing into. I've already replaced the washer under one of the wingnuts once because I smashed it to bits. I think the serrations on the clamp wear out too fast. I guess I just need to find a better way to secure the line into the camp or maybe some material to wrap around the line.
