It's taken me some time to get all the details worked out, but... here it is!! Anis Cheurfa's new Crystal Focus v4, custom saber! It is a gift, not a job on this one. I did this project simply because I wanted to do so, to show my appreciation for his amazing martial & tricking skills. Just because... I can! :)

I always wanted this project to be a "collaboration" amongst myself and several others... and that is precisely what I achieved--and then some! :)

Tim Yaskus (The Custom Saber Shop) provided the parts which I won from an auction...
Marc DiCarlo ("Lord Dottore Matto") constructed the hilt parts...
Erv Plecter (PlecterLabs) provided his Crystal Focus v4 board, signed it, and aided in the wiring and electronic design...
Timpa "Tim Man" provided some custom sound clips of Anis to help "personalize" the saber (these clips aren't heard in the video)
Jervin D for allowing me to use some of the footage from his "tribute to Anis" video. Which is a GREAT video if you haven't watched it. The one with the Black Parade music... :)

And finally, I of course did the logistics on getting all of this together, painted and detailed the outside of the saber, along with final electronic modifications, on/off switch placement, and the sound configuration.

IF you know Anis... DON'T TELL HIM ABOUT IT YET!!! :) I'll be presenting it to him in L.A. this weekend, thanks to Travis Wong.

Enjoy the "build log" regarding the saber, everyone...

  • the music doesnt need to be there

  • @slimeball6969 ... neither does your comment... uh... "slimeball6969". lol...

Come to think of it... why don't you just disable your sound card. Better yet, hit mute. Whatever turns your crank, tough guy... :)

  • What was that song playing in the background at 2:43? For some reason, I wanna say Street Fighters o_O

  • Credits at the end... :) But you're right, that is a re-mix of "Guile's theme" from SF.

The beginning song is Vertexguy's rendition of the original "Double Dragon" game, which was a pretty legendary aracade game back in the 80's and 90's.

I do weird stuff with my video background music. Mainly b/c I like to highlight "obscure" music (and not the mainstream stuff)... but also b/c of Y-tube audio copyright stuff, lol. It gets too ridiculous. :)

  • So sick Matt! Anis loves it. We'll be posting a vid soon for you.

  • It was a lot of fun (and work!) to make the saber, but totally worth it, Travis!! Like I said, Anis said "how much" @ L-Kicks 2008, I told him "no way, we'll make one for you". :) I'm sure he believes me now; I assume he MUST have been skeptical!

BTW, last vid w/ Anis, Jere & Danny was RIDICULOUS... Ninja Finish CRACKS me up, I'm serious--I can't explain it, it just rollzzzz me... :)

Looking fwd to seeing Anis' reaction, take your time... can't wait to see him spin that shit like Kenobi!

  • Double Dragon! AHHHHH YEAH!

  • whow i havent wacthed your vidz in a long time but this is pretty cool!!! who is that guy with the wierd name hes amazing like the real jedi

  • Yes, Graytale, it is a very expensive venture. My dream saber will cost me close to $400. dollars, my second dream saber $375.. And Randsomsabers (Ryan) isnt taking custom orders right now which bites. Great job though, all of you..

  • Hahahah, Vapor... wassup, I remember you from back in the TF.N days...

Sorry though, it's a pretty expensive gift!! Crystal Focus is ~$140, the hilt parts are ~$100+, the LED, lens, holder, speaker and other components add to ~$50+ ... then we have the blade & diffusion + tip, ~$25...

Then we have my labor, Erv's work, and LDM's work as well... so it adds up quickly.

Plus, the sounds are *personalized* for Anis--which people will see later on.
