Siemens Make It Challenge feat. Holmes Chapel Comprehensive School

Teenagers from across Cheshire experienced the excitement of working in the high-tech world of modern manufacturing when they took part in the 'Siemens Make it Enterprising Schools Challenge' at the Sandhole Oak Barn in Congleton.

The ninety-four 13 and 14 year-old boys and girls from twelve local schools established their own mini-manufacturing businesses and completed a series of key tasks set by Siemens, a global manufacturing business whose facility at Congleton produces Automation and Drive technologies.

A team from The Fallibroome Academy in Macclesfield took the winning title with their innovative ideas for creating a more efficient and customer focused airport. They impressed the Siemens 'Dragons' with their sophisticated scanning and conveyor systems designed to ensure faster and safer passenger and luggage processing.

Runners up were Congleton High School whose chosen customer, the 'Health Haven Hospital', was set to benefit from the teams ideas to improve the patient experience through new technologies and a strong marketing campaign.

In addition four pupils were chosen as 'Outstanding Individuals' for leadership, innovation, communication and financial acumen. These were Imogen Thompson from Beech Hall School, Jessica Archer form Congleton High School, Chris Poole from Tytherington High School and Lauren Maires from Weaverham High School.
