Our road to creating the Model Titanic Splits video series has been a long and challenging one.

On the way, we made many sinking attempts that ended in failure (no hull break-up). Some of these videos, though, were still interesting to watch. This is one.

Disclaimer: The real Titanic did not sink this way.

This video shows Titanic sinking due a a phenomenon called "sagging." The ship is flooding amidships, but still supported by the buoyancy of the bow & stern. She floods quickly and sinks to the bottom.

Filmed at 240 fps with a Casio Exilim FC-150. No audio.

  • what is that titanic made of from paper or armor

  • @landirizaldi Plastic.

  • how deep was that water?

  • @spartan4821 About eight feet or so.

  • I wondered how it looked from under the water.

  • @ZachGriff11 We've got some underwater footage of our intact Titanic sinking on our channel page.

  • @zcschott Maybe try reading the giant block of text before the sinking portion.

  • @titanicrul A lot of folks have compared this video to the Thayer/Skidmore drawing - this particular sinking was quite a happy accident in that sense. :)

  • Hey RapidNadion, How much does one of those models cost? I want to buy a sinkable one that is under 100-120$. Those models seem pretty good size so If you have any Idea where I could buy one (Online is okay) that is sinkable like this. Thanks and Please respond!

  • Actually, some people think that's how it actually broke up.

  • @Rapidnadion What is the length of the model?

  • @RCT335 no that theory was proven to be faulty a year go. the metal on the wrek made it look like that way because of intense damage caused by titanics fall to the bottom :)

  • It actualy sank almost the same way. After 3/4ths of titanic went under she broke from the bottom of the ship up, so this is half correct.... Get it to divide like that when 3/4ths of it under water and you will be 100% correct

  • O man you sunk the fail boat

  • its kinda bad if it sunk that way cause they wouldn't have enough time to release the life boats and it would have let 1,657 people die i was just guessing it woul be in the 1,600's

  • the deck of the front part peeled off underwater

  • @landirizaldi You can buy ịt it is a kit model.
