I. [ In itunes ] Click edit and go down to preferences
II. [ In the general tab ] click import settings. Make sure you select the AAC Encoder. Click ok
III. Find the song you want to use. Right click, then click get info
IV. Click options, go down to the START and STOP times. The clip can only be 30 seconds.
V. Right click the song again, and click create aac version.
VI Click the 30 version you made then [ on your keyboard] hold CTRL + R.
VII. Rename the file extension from m4a to m4r.
VIII. Drag and drop back into iTunes, in the ringtone section.

Weld depending on what OS you have. Open any folder and go to the folder options. Then View then find a box that says hide extensions for known file types, and uncheck it if it is checked.
