Arrows perform the Phil Coulter country and western composition "Thanks" dressed in their matching white suits. A very mid 70s fashion statement.
Producer and songwriter Mr. Coulter is now a Celtic music legend, but in his past has written many styles of music, including bubblegum pop, rock, and country and western.
This Christian church oriented country-pop rock song was the only one of it's kind recorded by the Arrows, who generally recorded rock n roll music.
The Arrows are Alan Merrill (lead vocals), Jake Hooker (guitar and chorus) and Paul Varley (drums and chorus).
Ths song appeared on the 1976 album titled "First Hit" on RAK-EMI records.
The song "Thanks" was recorded in the USA before the Arrows by Waylon Jennings on his 1972 "Ladies Love Outlaws" album.
The song was originally recorded by the legendary J. Vincent Edwards ("Love Hit Me"), who did a more upbeat version of the song.

  • This song was recorded by J. Vincent Edwards in 1969, and Waylong Jenings in 1972. This Arrows version was cut in winter 1975 and released in January 1976 on the First Hit LP..

  • @tsunamisasumi Right on all counts except for the spelling of country music icon Waylon Jenning's name! Thanks for your comment.

  • The Arrows straying very far from their natural muscial leanings here. A little coersion by the record company perhaps?

    lol

  • Maybe, it's hard to say, but it's a good song and performance all the same.

  • The original version of this Phil Coulter song was by J. Vincent Edwards in 1969!

  • Arrows, singing outlaw C&W in white suits! LOL

  • Yes indeed it was!

  • I love the seventies flair on their trousers!

  • I didn't know they weren't the first act to record it. "Thanks" for that information. LOL!!
