Soldiers' Stories follows two Ugandan soldiers - a female gunner and a male nurse - serving in the African Union Mission to Somalia (AMISOM) at a critical stage in the battle for Mogadishu, between Al-Shabab militants and the internationally recognized Transitional Federal Government.
From their training in Uganda to deployment in the shattered city in July 2011, Roselyn Namutebi and Otto Moses share their thoughts and fears on the frontline of one of the world's most intractable crises.
Reflecting on why they serve, their relationship with Somali civilians, and what it means to leave friends and family at home, the film offers a rare glimpse into the reality of modern peace support missions.
