The Olympic torch was welcomed to London's Chinatown by excited crowds and performances from traditional lions and dragons. The protests did not flare up here, though there was one -- most unwelcome -- Tibetan flag (you can see it to the right at points in this video).

  • 爱死你们了 !!! GOOD JOB !!

  • Can you get 10 years in a Chinese prison for sending an email in Hong Kong?

  • WelshBathBoy: Most of those people who left Hong Kong before 1997 now regret it. Looks at the economic mess in the West today.

Tiananmen? Probably 200 to 300 dead, compared to the 1,000,000 killed in Iraq.

There is a growing trend for overseas Chinese to move back to China, due to the much better economic prospects. There are over 3,000,000 people from overseas living in Mainland China today.

  • If many people in tibet were given the chance, i'm sure they would have left when People's Liberation Army invaded. Just like the one million people who left Hong Kong between 1989 1997 when Britain gave HK away. Although I'm sure you were never taught of the Tiananmen Square Massacre in your schools, and the 4000 innocent lives killed by the, ironicly called, People's Liberation Army. As soon as ths happend thousands left HK, konwing their future would be in the hands of the PLA

  • yes, it's called the Northern Ireland Assembly. A group of democratly elected MPs from both side of the divide, so much so that the main Unionist party and the main Republican party share power. and like i've already said the majority of people in NI voted to stay part of the UK

  • WelshBathBoy: The Tibetan exiles have Foreign governments (ie. U.S. Congress) funding them to break away. Do Northern Ireland separatists have that?

  • Eponymous9: Why don't you worry more about your country getting itself unstuck from IraqNam, from your lack of respect for Iraq's sovereignty.

To most Chinese people, the Tibet issue is about sovereignty...a bunch of foreign governments or foreigners trying to separate Chinese territory.

Also, until U.K. starts to respect sovereignty, then boycott London 2012.

  • ohhh i wonder what us londoners will end up doing..lol...

lets sit back and watch wat happens...

  • truth is northern ireland is not part of england, it is part of uk, why can't foreigers get their head aronud this!! england is a country along with scotland and wales that form great britain, great britain along with northern ireland creates the UK.

anyway you cannot compare northern ireland with tibet, at least in northen ireland there was a referendum on their future, and the majority wanted to keep to the status quo, have the people of tibet had a chance to vote?? can anyone in china vote?
