I agree with the idea of the assumed identity bit. His true name was Kent Allard btw, WWI pilot, which I would have preferred to see instead of the Chinese drug lord. Other than that a few shortcomings, the plot and Margo for instance like you mentioned, its a fun picture that could have spawned sequels. Not to worry, a New shadow movie is in the works!!

The Shadow is one of those titles that you really wish become famous just so you can see more of it.
Also, I'm sure you heard of the news but they're making a new movie and it's set to release on 2012.

I think The Shadow was pretty good, by the way, you made two mistakes, 1. this movie actually came out 1994 and 2. the living knife is pronounced Phurba.

Is theat the comic series from the 80's? Or is that one of the Dark Horse ones? I'd really like to read Dennis O'neil's run from the 70's I heard that was excellent.
