This video was created for a public memorial service for Justin Mentell held on February 13, 2010 in Waukegan, Illinois. Justin was an artist and actor best known for his season 2 role as Garrett Wells on ABC's BOSTON LEGAL. Other credits include PALO ALTO, Disney's G-FORCE, '77 (formerly 5-25-77).

Justin was a close friend, and had moved back to Illinois from Los Angeles just six months ago to pursue his painting and music. On February 1, 2010, he died in a car accident in Wisconsin.

Donations may be made in Justins name to the Waukegan Park District Cultural Arts, 39 Jack Benny Drive, Waukegan, IL 60087. 847-360-4740

The song contained in the video is "Call to Arms" by Angels and Airwaves, one of Justin's favorite bands.

  • I had the pleasure of working with Justin on Boston Legal. He was talented and funny. More importantly he was a really good guy -- someone you'd want to hang out with. He told GREAT stories and was interested in your own. As a parent myself, I want to tell Justin's parents that they did a wonderful job raising a wildly creative yet down-to-earth kid. I always felt happier after I spent time with him.

  • At NIU there is a great acting teacher by the name of Kathryn Gately, with whom Justin and I both studied. the training started sophomore year, but Justin was an inquisitive freshman. he would bug Kathryn all the time, because he wanted to start the Meisner training. In our freshman year, after a discussion between Justin and me about acting, he approached Kathryn with a bunch of acting questions. Kathryn gave us both these huge reading lists, like 12 books on them! I was so mad at Justin!
