Naomi Wolf - 'Fake' Activism

Naomi Wolf, author of The End of America, argues that bureaucracy has killed effective protesting because mass social protests in the U.S. now have a feeling of "Disneyland activism."

Naomi is making a valid point, and I don't think she is saying that the people who are participating in these protests are fake, she is stating that protests now are more like a theatrical performance. Never has a "permitted" protest changed anything; showing up one day out of a year to walk in a parade led by law enforcement won't change anything. To be effective the protest must cause a continuous disruption of the system.

That's what the Bicycle group critical mass did. They Hampered traffic really bad instead of stopping it completely. But that wasn'y much to ask for. Not like quit bailing out the banks and giving CEO millons for losing money.

So by definition, the corporate controlled teabagger movement never was a real protest because they are ALWAYS seen sitting in chairs by the side of the road with their signs. Occasionally they would yell, but they never walked out into the street. More proof.
