New Taser Bracelet for Airline Travelers

A senior government official with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has expressed great interest in a so-called safety bracelet that would serve as a stun device, similar to that of a police Taser®. According to this promotional video found at the Lamperd Less Lethal, Inc. website, the bracelet would be worn by all airline passengers (video also shown below).

This bracelet would:

• take the place of an airline boarding pass

• contain personal information about the traveler

• be able to monitor the whereabouts of each passenger and his/her luggage

• shock the wearer on command, completely immobilizing him/her for several minutes

Better still, a small piece of heavy duty aluminum foil between the bracelet and your skin would short it out.

This is such a stupid idea and would be so easy to disable. A small piece of heavy duty aluminum foil placed between the bracelet and the skin would short out the device and render it useless. Unless it was placed on the arm so tight it would cut off circulation it would be impossible to prevent this method of disabling it.

@Bert1436 They have linked it to the boarding pass system so if you have to fly then you have to wear it (once onboard tho I guess anything goes e.g cut it off)

Wouldn't the criminals talked about just cut it off before using the supplied cutlery knife to endanger the plane?? Or, maybe they just wouldn't stand up and announce they are going to do something undesirable to give the marshals or stewards notice to press the shock bracelet activation - Technology is not the whole answer.
