Our first outdoor flight!!!
We have taken our birdie's perch with us to the training location to have a familiar object around. This proved to be a very good idea. I have chosen an area with no terrain objects (trees, buildings, fences, electric wires) around to make sure the bird wants to stay close. We also had with us plenty of treats and also security items like binoculars, cellphones in case recovery of the bird had been necessary. Fortunate enough these proved to be unnecessary.

First you have to teach your bird indoors to come to you every time you call it. This is a long process and there are individual differences among the parrots how they master this.
All in all it needs time and patience and the result is not guaranteed. Even in our case, after the first couple of outdoor flights I have realized that Crackie does not like to be outside, in fact, she is scared to death in the open.

She did not want to start flying longer distances than the one you can see in this video and she preferred just sitting there instead. So for now we are taking a break from outdoor flights.
