Wow. Ashley and I have both improved dramatically since this was filmed. I see many personal technique errors. I hope we have an opportunity to film Omote no Naginata again sometime.
More often than not when I see a Sugawara group I see they have a certain fluidity of movement. I would surmise that this certain fluidity I'm seeing comes from Sugawaras aikido training. His students are also often aikidoka.
I'm talking the general impression I get, not wrists, shoulders or specific bodyparts.
actually i just found that out. i was under the impression that they were. but i have a friend from the sugawara-ha in korea and trains under sugawara sensei from time to time. since learning that i am guessing that they are their own independant group.
Sorry Scott, I don't find myself needing to correct you often, but Jinmukan is not one of Sugawara Tetsutaka Sensei's groups. Kaifinn is of course correct in that it is not one of Otake Sensei's groups.
good work

fluid motions? they move very stiff and very slow!!
the shoulders and wrists should be very relaxed. in japan they say, he has got dead hands.
