Jude Conway has a magnitude of knowledge on the subject of venture capital and angel investing. He has worked with both the public and private sectors in his 20+ year career. Jude's work with Chicago-based Hopewell Ventures has provided venture capital to a variety of businesses and start-ups.

Jude explains: "Most people's eyes glaze over when venture capital or angel investing is mentioned. They feel it's somewhere between Voodoo and quantum physics. While the details of an angel or venture capital deal can get quite complicated the basic concept is quite simple. It's when someone other than friends or family buy shares in your company. Once entrepreneurs understand how this works, they can make an informed decision whether or not to pursue this type of financing."

Here, Jude shares some helpful tips for those who have started, or are thinking about starting, their own business.

Jude Conway was the guest speaker at the August 10, 2010, meeting of the Inventors, Investors and Entrepreneurs (I2E) Club at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) Kimmel Education and Research Center in Nebraska City, NE
