  • wow i thought these "genisis" locos got retired but i guess they just got repainted hard to tell when they zip past at 60mph

  • 0:36 says 811 and 832 are in the lead. Huge 6" numbers on the side.

  • Are you sure this was filmed in 1994? I thought Auto Train had all Superliner cars by that time.

  • Yes, absolutely sure this was filmed in 1994.

  • The vid was nice but I HATED how the recorder didn't just let the train past by...I hated all of the senseless transitions and elapsed times in the video. Would have been nice to just have seen the entire consist in its entirety since its very hard to find footage of the pre-Superliner auto trains. Great vid none the less.

  • I think at this time(year) and by the road numbers 811 & 832 these are actually P-40DC's....

  • might amtrak train i like this consist in this scheme the most then any other amtrak colour schemes

  • THEY ARE FUCKING P42DC asshole bitch ass cunt

  • @dgcasey0325 I agree and i would too provided the economics added up (long holiday). However i can't see how the raw costs are more by renting, so provided the great capitalist machine is working correctly i can't see how it is cheaper to transport your car 1000+ miles or whatever than simply transport yourself and pick up a car at the other end. I guess in part it's because Amtrak is subsidised.

  • @N330AA If I were taking a trip across country on the train and could put my car on the train for a couple hundred extra, I'd do it in a heartbeat. It would be cheaper than renting, it would be my own car and it would make more sense.

  • I'd bet these P40 units are in service again after the ARRA refurbishment program!!

  • Why don't people just rent a car when they get to Florida?

  • @TrainDr101: I must correct my own comment. The dome diner is the ex-Milwaukee dome mixed w/ the sleepers. The coach passengers used the kitchen car, buffet car, & table car that were next to the full dome lounge. When the train was converted to superliner 2's, the configuration stayed the same- sleepers had & coaches had their own dining & lounge cars.

  • Dome history:

    9312 - ex-Milwaukee Road 56

    9475 - ex-GN 1335

    9371 - ex-SP 3602

*Note* I do not know if those numbers are the ones in the train, I just tryed to make out the number the best I can.

  • @ultragor The earliest pictures I have seen of all Superliner Auto-Train were from Spring 1997.

  • @ultragor Auto Train got Superliner II sleepers and a "first class" diner in 1994 or 1995. It ran those with Amfleet II coaches and Heritage buffets and domes until 1996.
