OPEN - The Organization of Pakistani Entrepreneurs

OPEN is a voluntary, non-profit organization dedicated to the promotion of entrepreneurship and leadership in the Pakistani-American business and professional community. Established in Boston, OPEN has chapters in Boston, Houston, New York, Chicago, Silicon Valley, and Washington DC.
Saqib-ul-Islam covered OPENs activities in DC and Silicon Valley chapters and talked to the organizers and community members about the productivity and future of professional Pakistanis in the United States.
OPEN Chapter Profiles:
The Washington DC chapter of OPEN is the most recent chapter of the organization and is working with 3rd largest area of Pakistani population in USA. OPEN is helping Pakistani business owners in tapping into the strong and diverse Washington business community where large financial companies like Fannie Mae, Capital One, Freddie Mac, Sallie Mae,World Bank as well as federal government agencies present a large variety of business opportunities.
Silicon Valley is home to thousands of hi-tech companies, notable among which are Intel, Oracle, Hewlett Packard, Adobe, Apple, Silicon Graphics, Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems, Yahoo, and Google. OPEN Silicon Valley promotes entrepreneurship through regular mentorship and networking initiatives in the more than 20 thousand Pakistani Community in Silicon Valley area.
