  • You seem to be using a different clarinet mouthpiece here (from the 'Old Fashioned Love' clip). Is there a reason for that? It still sounds great.

  • @357ism Yes, hawkeye, I've changed from a Jody Jazz #7 to a #8 (and a sophisticated black one instead of the old hot red). The tip opening is a little bigger, and therefore I also have changed from a medium soft reed to a soft one. It gives you more power in the low and medium register, where I mostly play, but makes it a little more difficult to play the high notes well.

  • Good clarinet sound. Have you tried with an Albert System horn? All the best from Barcelona (Catalunya)!

  • @albertsystem No, not seriously. Maybe I should. Especially after I've watched some of your clips and listened to your nice sound. On the other hand I know my old Boehm clarinet well, and to start with an Albert just because most of the old heroes used that system... At least Albert Nicholas played a Boehm clarinet.

  • P.S. Well qualified jazz musicians would never discount this. Anyone who has a serious qualm with the instruments is a picky child who needs experience. Well played and delivered. Thumbs up.

  • Disregarding all comments with ignorant critique..... This song is wonderful. Well played and well done.

  • @lassecollin And the sophistication shines through. Bravo, Pirates!

  • @lassecollin

Yes, Albert Nicholas played a Boehm nut he started on Albert System until it broke when in Egypt, then Nicholas send it to Paris to repair, then someone gave him a Boehm just to try it and he felt in love with that "new" sound more classical.

  • Bravo Lasse ! Et merci !
