This is my attempt at Lang's well known Tuba Tune on my Allen Protege organ. Craig Lang, usually just known as C. S. Lang (1891 - 1971) was born in New Zealand but moved to the U.K. and worked as director of music at Christ's Hospital school in Horsham, West Sussex, from 1929 to 1945. Lang wrote a number of songs and choral works but this is really the only work by which he is remembered. It's a rather boisterous piece in 12/8 time with a bouncy melody that starts off sounding a bit like Handel, but the middle section with its key changes certainly belongs to the twentieth century.

  • Hey!

I have a 3 manual 1995 Protege at home too! They are fun! I am presently adding audio and reverb in my dry accoustic. I have been away from playing for years but I am at it again...Nice rhythm and work here in a dry environ like mine...Suew give one a chance to evaluate one's legato tehcnique!

  • I went to Christ's Hospital and this is truely a masterful piece of music. It was written for the 5 manual Rushworth and Draper organ in the school chapel - that is a beast of an instrument designed, I believe by Lang. The 'tuba' melody is played on the 'west organ' using the 'Tuba Magnum' stop - bloody loud!

  • Wow! Great job brother!

  • Nice! The allen sounds fantastic. Very good performance.
