Germantown Road snakes it's way down through Forst Park from Skyline to the Willamette River. Taken from the bars of my road bike, Portland, OR.

  • Beautiful descent. I found myself banking in my windsor chair to keep from falling over! What was your top speed?

  • Thanks! I don't usually use a speedometer, but I'd guess about 35-40 mph on the straightaways.

Faster than ever before anyways, because some angel had just repaved it!

  • Germantown??? Only a nutcase would descend this road!!! (That's a compliment!)

Seriously, great job. Camera fairly smooth too. What mount did you use?

Logie Trail next? Rocky Point Road?

  • Thanks! I'm planning to do all the descents off of skyline eventually, but I'm not in Portland this summer. I'll get back to that in September.

All I used was a 6 megapixel Canon pocket digital camera set on video, with a 1/4" thick piece of foam across the back, electrical-taped to the front of my stem. The second time I tried it I used a couple toe-straps and cracked the screen on the camera by getting them too tight.

    Thanks!

    -Andy

  • Wow, you averaged a touch over 37 mph. Frickin hairball.

  • I was talking about drunk biking, cause the guy on the video is biking! Drunk biking is fuckin awesome.

  • I love driving thru there with my 09 Rabbit. Please don't drunk drive through there.

  • Fuck yea! I cant tell you how many times ive bombed that shit drunker than shit at 3am with my buddys, I live up on skyline they live at the bottom of the hill, so many good times. try it hella drunk its crazy!

  • I was once a feared descender as a recer, then many years ago had a horrific crash down Deardorff Rd on Mt. Scott - road rash all over, just awful. Took a little bit to get the nerve back. Now that I'm over 40, I have mentally slowed down. But there's something thrilling and challenging about fast technical descents. Good job Andy, ride on!
