Yay! NR Album Boot Camp is off to a super-hyped-up, nerds-on-fire start. This week, we started a new song-- focusing mainly on sound design and beat programming.

Here's glimpse #1 into what's going on in the lab.

PS: At 0:36, m.0 and I say the same word ("ambience") at the same exact time. I think our brains have officially melded.

Exactly! Last night, I was trying to come up with more lyrics for this song. I felt frustrated, but then I ended up coming back to another song we're working on. It was way more fun! So sometimes, we have to go with where the moment takes us. Trying to force inspiration usually works against you!

If we're just jamming for fun, we try not to keep an "end result" in mind...so we just let things flow naturally :)

Since we have a big project going, we try to set specific goals. That way, it doesn't feel like we're just jamming aimlessly. It helps keep our sessions focused and productive.

The most important thing is to HAVE FUN! If it starts feeling like "work" or we're forcing it, we come back to it with fresh ears :D
