@nenabunena he also gave women a lot of rights back then, rights that was very progressive & feminist in views. & this was back when the west, & christians gave little to no rights to their own women. also, when the jewry was being persecuted around europe, when these jews went to the middle east, in islamic countries, they were treated quite well, & they were very tolerant of them. this was when no one was tolerant & there was a prevalence of anti-semitism that eventually lead to ww2.
@proudport they had a documentary on muhammad the prophet on discovery channel a while back. 1000 yrs ago they had wars which left the women widowed & not enough security for them & their children everytime their husbands died. so when a great war came & many men died leaving their family w/ no security. it was muhammad who thought up of the laws which allowed & encouraged men, espcially of means to be honorable & take the widows for their wives to care for them. he was actually quite a feminist
If he tried to tell me that he didn't sleep with either of his wives, I would probably look at him with a wry smirk and say "Please don't insult my intelligence..." lol
Well, I can see the logic of multiple marriage in countries that don't allow women to work. But in the West, there's really no need. As a Western woman, if I am going to devote my entire life to a man, I expect my degree of devotion to be returned. Man or woman, its not right to have double standards. Its not necessary to "take care" of a woman in this part of the world. And there are job training programs and child support systems for "displaced housewives". Sorry, no excuses here.
yes I think that the concept of casual sex and multiple sex partners over a life time, being so intimate with no emotionsl tiesor "trading in" an older wife for a new wife is probably foreign to other people in the East... but I agree, sharing a husband is very very hard to fathom
Well, WoW! Is this for real? He is being honest? I've never seen or heard about anything like it! I think that I'm beginning to understand this concept of harem and family loyalty and responsibly. I still would not want to be in the Harem of a Sultan! Being a western I must confess that this is all very peculiar to me, peculiar in the sense that I'm so unaccustomed to this way of life, no offence at all!
