In this video I discuss the slow evolution in realizing that the word I'd been searching for my whole life to describe who I am is "genderqueer". I'd previously called myself "a gay man trapped in a straight woman's body" but that wasn't quite right either. I'm 37 years old, and just discovered this word from one of freshlycharles' videos. YAY! A word!!!

  • Thanks very much for your video. I very mucu relate to what you say and I also identify as genderqueer, I've always felt that way since childhood, I am not a trans, not gay but it also feels like being a 'gay man trapped in a straight woman body' and with that I'm not sure on how I can attract guys because although I don't look like a hard butch, I don't really do feminine outlook either, I feel like looking 50/50.

  • cont.) another thing, having kids. I never seen myself having them at all like adopting or stuff like that seemed better to me than to be actually pregnant of them but even then the whole kid thing never seemed to be my thing it's mostly like what my mother would like me to have but i made my mind up not too long ago that the kid thing wasn't something i was going to do. it's just not me. so i understand i am not sure if they have groups like that here in PA most people here have kids at 18.

  • That is cool, i never really knew how to say what i am before hearing gender queer like I thought gender neutral or maybe I thought I was trans but the trans really didn't seem to fit because I was born female but everyone always tells me i act like a guy in a female body for some things and for other things I act kind of like a girl. But mostly male, my mum always bugs me about little details about curtains and decorating for me it looks the same.I also wore ties a lot when i was a teen.

  • You are lucky to be born a woman. Life in general is more fun being a woman.

  • LOL I am not sure if i am genderqueer or not??? how can i tell- what are some of the defining characteristics???

  • I identified with you 100% I even just had surgery to not have children myself.
